Baseball Recap: Bear River Gets the Win

Bear River had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Amador Buffaloes 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Bruins: when they faced off against the Buffaloes on Wednesday, they had to take a 8-5 loss.

Kaden Nicholls made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Cooper Lunsford was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Nolan Allen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Bear River has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Amador, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15-1.

Coming up, Bear River will face off against Woodland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bruins 3.9, the Cardinals 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Amador does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
