Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Eureka's Fifth in Last Six Outings

While Eureka didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-27), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Fredonia Yellowjackets on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the Tornadoes' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Eureka didn't let Fredonia take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-23.

Ellianna Coulter paced Eureka's offense, picking up five kills. Coulter got some help from Alaina Westerman and her six assists. Coulter also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Madelyn Miller, racking up four apiece.

Eureka is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Fredonia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1.

Eureka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Rose Hill on the 13th. As for Fredonia, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Independence on the 13th.
