Baseball Game Preview: Clovis Cougars vs. Central East Bengals

For the second straight game, Clovis will face off against Central East. The Cougars will host the Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clovis has four straight victories, Central East has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Clovis came out on top against Central East on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Cougars took their game against the Bengals 12-8.

Peyton Barsotti was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Clovis: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Deagan Rose, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Clovis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Clovis pushed their record up to 14-14 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Central East, their loss dropped their record down to 7-19.
