Baseball Recap: Middle Tennessee Monarchs Takes a Loss

Middle Tennessee Monarchs extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 10-15. They lost 8-2 to the Christian Educational Consortium Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Christian Educational Consortium this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 back in March.

Middle Tennessee Monarchs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Whittimore, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Christian Educational Consortium, their win bumped their record up to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Christian Educational Consortium's side, Josh Geddes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. Geddes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Hicks, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Christian Educational Consortium is undefeated when Hicks posts three or more hits, but 4-5 otherwise. Jack Potter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Christian Educational Consortium will take on rival Memphis Home Education Association at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
