Basketball Recap: Westminster Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Westminster Christian Academy lost against Edmund Burke Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Westminster Christian Academy Lions lost 60-38 to the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edmund Burke Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leila Eastmead led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. Eastmead is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Payton Palmer was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Westminster Christian Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Edmund Burke Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Trinity Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Edmund Burke Academy, they will head out to challenge Augusta Prep Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
