Softball Game Preview: Bethlehem Wildcats vs. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Bethlehem Wildcats will square off against the Vernon Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethlehem has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bethlehem came up short against Cottondale on Thursday, falling 14-2. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Vernon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Graceville on Monday. The Yellowjackets blew past the Tigers 15-4. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Vernon let Elena Dean and Lila Owens run wild. Dean got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Owens got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ava Roche was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Vernon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bethlehem's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.
