Baseball Recap: Auburn's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Auburn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Pike Road Patriots. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.

Hank Brantley looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Auburn's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Antwane Daniels, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Daniels also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Auburn pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Pike Road, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will head out to challenge Bryant at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Auburn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Pike Road, they will venture away from home to square off against Elmore County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
