Soccer Game Preview: New Smyrna Beach vs. Bartram Trail

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas and the Bartram Trail Bears will compete for holiday cheer at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Smyrna Beach is headed into the contest without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They came out on top against St. Joseph Academy by a score of 3-1 last Thursday. Given the Barracudas' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Flashes are ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bartram Trail kept a clean sheet against Ocoee on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Knights out 1-0.

Bartram Trail's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five matchups. As for New Smyrna Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-0-2 record this season.
