Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ariton walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights with a sharp 11-1 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Purple Cats, who have now won 20 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ariton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, they now have a losing record of 18-19.

Ariton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
