Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

St. Joseph Academy hadn't done well against Army-Navy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Crusaders won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Crusaders as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Mathew Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits.

On the hitting side, St. Joseph Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Sutherlin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another was Conall McMahon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

St. Joseph Academy's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-12. As for Army-Navy, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Academy will face off against Bonsall at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Legionnaires have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.91 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Army-Navy, they will square off against Orange Glen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
