Basketball Recap: Voyager Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Voyager Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 82-65 to the Discovery Charter School Trailblazers.

Voyager Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Darin Jones and Tristan Gibson. Jones posted 22 points, while Gibson scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Julian Quinones, who had seven points.

The win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for Discovery Charter School, bringing their record up to 2-0.

Voyager Academy has already played their next contest, an 80-51 loss against Durham Academy on the 14th. As for Discovery Charter School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-49 victory against North Raleigh Christian Academy on the 13th.
