Basketball Game Preview: Stone Mountain Pirates vs. Mt. Zion Bulldogs

The Stone Mountain Pirates will face off against the Mt. Zion Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Stone Mountain came up short against Riverdale on Tuesday, falling 69-46. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Raiders are ranked 193rd).

Meanwhile, Mt. Zion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-39 loss at the hands of Douglass.

Stone Mountain has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Mt. Zion, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Stone Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mt. Zion when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory.
