Baseball Preview: Morehead Panthers vs. Reidsville Rams
Morehead is 10-0 against Reidsville since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Morehead Panthers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Reidsville Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Morehead gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They beat North Forsyth by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-0.
Landon Roberts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Roberts was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Morehead let Anderson Nance and Carson Moore loose on the outfield. Nance scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Moore went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Briar Woods, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Reidsville came tearing into Monday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Wolfpack.
Morehead's win bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Reidsville, they pushed their record up to 13-10 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
