Soccer Game Preview: Yucaipa vs. Cajon

Yucaipa is 0-8-2 against Cajon since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Yucaipa Thunderbirds will host the Cajon Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Yucaipa's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Redlands with a sharp 5-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Thunderbirds' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Cajon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Blackhawks 5-0. Considering the Cowboys have won six matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Citrus Valley with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Darey Zamora (3), Christopher Miguel, and Alejandro Gutierrez.

Yucaipa has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those eight contests. As for Cajon, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5-2.

Yucaipa suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Cajon in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Yucaipa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
