Viola dropped their record down to 9-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Calico Rock Pirates by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Longhorns have suffered since April 5, 2024.

As for Calico Rock, they moved to 6-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 13th.

For Calico Rock's part, Eli Thorton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Thorton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Calico Rock is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Thorton was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Kyle French was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Korbin Stapton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
