Softball Recap: Mt. Zion Has No Trouble Against Cumberland

Mt. Zion had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Cumberland on Tuesday. The Braves were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Pirates. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ella Fink was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Fink was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Williams, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Savannah Beiler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Mt. Zion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mt. Zion's record now sits at 11-5. As for Cumberland, they moved to 6-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Mt. Zion will square off against St. Joseph-Ogden at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cumberland, they will take on Neoga at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
