Soccer Game Preview: Hillsboro vs. Quincy Notre Dame

The Hillsboro Hiltoppers are taking a road trip to take on the Quincy Notre Dame Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hillsboro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand North Mac a 1-0 shutout. Hillsboro haven't had any issues with North Mac recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Quincy Notre Dame). Everything went their way against Calvary on Friday as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Quincy Notre Dame needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Quincy Notre Dame's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Hillsboro, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Hillsboro might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Quincy Notre Dame when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Hiltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
