Baseball Recap: Champion Golden Flashes vs. McKinley Red Dragons
Champion never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against McKinley on Thursday. They skirted past the McKinley Red Dragons 10-9. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Champion also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2021.
Zack Morris and Dylan Howell made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Morris tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk). Meanwhile, Howell didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Morris scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Howell scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Carter Chapin was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Bradey Quinby was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base.
On McKinley's side, Kris Hrosar and Brian Parsons stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hrosar scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Parsons scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was AJ Yost, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
