Baseball Recap: Centreville Has No Trouble Against Westfield

Centreville barely beat Westfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won three games by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Ian Weber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Centreville is undefeated when Weber posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Justin Lee was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Centreville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Centreville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Westfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centreville will challenge South Lakes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westfield, they will square off against James Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warhawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
