Baseball Recap: Stanton Buffaloes vs. Coahoma Bulldogs

Stanton had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 15-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Coahoma Bulldogs, falling 10-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Braydn Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Aidan Orona was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

As for Coahoma, their record is now 9-12-1. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 20-2).

On Coahoma's side, Colby Walker made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Walker has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Kobi Olivas was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Coahoma: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Levi Green, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Stanton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coahoma, they will challenge Lamesa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
