Goessel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Douglass Bulldogs. One positive for the Bluebirds, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Douglass found their leader in freshman Brody Rush, who went 8 for 14 en route to 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kemper Cox, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals.
Goessel's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Douglass, they moved to 4-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Goessel is taking a road trip to challenge Udall at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. Goessel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Douglass, they will take on Marion in a tournament on Friday. Marion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
