Basketball Recap: Portola Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Sierra Lutheran

On Wednesday, the Portola Tigers didn't have too much trouble with the Sierra Lutheran Falcons as they won 72-57. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 667th in California, while the Falcons are ranked 96th in Nevada).

It was another big night for Connor Sheridan, who posted 32 points. His evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnus Berg, who earned 13 points.

Portola has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Sierra Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Portola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-61 win against Biggs on the 6th. As for Sierra Lutheran, they have also already played their next match, a 58-31 defeat against Pershing County on the 7th.
