Flag Football Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. Clairemont Chieftains
Canyon Crest Academy's game on Thursday was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They had to suffer through a 45-13 loss at the hands of the Clairemont Chieftains. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Chieftains are ranked 135th).
A big part of Clairemont's win came down to the chemistry between Abby Mora and her top target Kacey Otterman. Mora threw for 219 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of her passes while Otterman picked up 136 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those four passing touchdowns gave Mora a new career-high.
This is the second loss in a row for Canyon Crest Academy and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Clairemont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Canyon Crest Academy will be playing at home against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Nighthawks' defense has only allowed 11.4 points per game this season, so the Ravens' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Clairemont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoover at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
