Baseball Game Preview: Port Jervis Raiders vs. Beacon Bulldogs

The Port Jervis Raiders will face off against the Beacon Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Port Jervis: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Beacon has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Port Jervis turned things around against Liberty on Friday. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.

Port Jervis got a massive performance out of Cole Corcoran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Corcoran a new career-high. Corbin Hicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Port Jervis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Beacon suffered their closest loss since May 2, 2024 on Sunday. They fell just short of Chester by a score of 4-2. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Port Jervis' victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Beacon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Port Jervis was able to grind out a solid win over Beacon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
