Softball Game Preview: Hermleigh Cardinals vs. Lubbock T Titans

The Hermleigh Cardinals will face off against the Lubbock T Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hermleigh is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.

If Hermleigh beats Lubbock T with 15 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went Hermleigh's way against Hamlin on Tuesday as Hermleigh made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Peyton Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since March 1st. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hallie Ellerbe and Brooklyn O'Quin did most of the damage at the plate: Ellerbe scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while O'Quin scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs O'Quin has posted since March 1st. Another player making a difference was Dejah Richardson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Hermleigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamlin only posted a batting average of .100.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Lubbock T was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They lost 22-1 to O'Donnell.

Hermleigh's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lubbock T, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Hermleigh took their win against Lubbock T in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 22-7. Does Hermleigh have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lubbock T turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
