Softball Recap: Signal Mountain Comes Up Short

Signal Mountain lost against Hixson back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Eagles fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Berkley Roddy was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Siara Ellis was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Signal Mountain's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-9. As for Hixson, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Signal Mountain will head out to take on Walker Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hixson, they will head out on the road to face off against Chattanooga Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pounders have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
