Softball Recap: Hickory Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

It's playoff time, and Hickory had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grove City Eagles a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on four straight.

The result came thanks to AJ Jarzab's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hickory's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Johnston, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Kaylie Gill was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Hickory's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Grove City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Hickory will head out to challenge Sharon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. Grove City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
