Basketball Recap: Chesapeake Takes a Loss

Chesapeake fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Severn Run on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Severn Run Wolves by a score of 53-50. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Jayden Gonzalez was the offensive standout of the contest as he posted 16 points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anderson Ellis, who earned 13 points.

Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Severn Run, their win bumped their record up to 4-13.

Chesapeake and Severn Run could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings. Chesapeake will face off against Severna Park at 6:45 p.m. on Friday down 165 places (282 vs. 117). Meanwhile, Severn Run (ranked 245th) will meet Old Mill (ranked 69th) at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
