Soccer Game Preview: Troy vs. El Modena

The Troy Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the El Modena Vanguards at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Troy's tournament run continued when they took on Los Amigos on Saturday. The Warriors fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 410th, while Los Amigos are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, El Modena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Santiago. That's two games in a row now that El Modena have lost by just one goal.

Jesus Arcos and Alex Hernandez scored all three of El Modena's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Troy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2-2. As for El Modena, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 2-4.

Troy beat El Modena by a goal when the teams last played back in January of 2019, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
