After a string of five wins, Elgin/Pope John's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against the Southwest Roughriders, falling 3-0. The Wolfpack were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Roughriders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

While Elgin/Pope John ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bellamie Stritt, who had nine digs and two aces. Caitlyn Adams also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Elgin/Pope John's defeat dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Southwest, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 28-5.

As of now, neither Elgin/Pope John nor the Roughriders have any future games scheduled.
