Basketball Recap: Reed-Custer's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Reed-Custer had lost four straight headed into Thursday's matchup, but Alyssa Wollenzien didn't let it get to five. The Comets came out on top against the Streator Bulldogs by a score of 41-31 on Thursday thanks in part to Wollenzien, who shot 57% from the field en route to 19 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Wilkey, who posted ten points and four steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Reed-Custer's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-5. As for Streator, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reed-Custer will be home for the holidays to greet Manteno at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Streator, they will challenge East Peoria at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.82 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
