Baseball Recap: Glenbrook South Takes a Loss

Glenbrook South extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-13 in the process. They lost 10-3 to the New Trier Trevians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Glenbrook South got a good showing from Cam Lewis, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Lewis also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Titans are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Glenbrook South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Moss, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for New Trier, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

On New Trier's side, Nick Bailey looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Bailey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ben Toft was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Jake Bentivenga also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

While Glenbrook South had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
