Softball Recap: Beachside Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tocoi Creek, Beachside was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bishop Kenny Crusaders, sneaking past 14-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Barracudas considering their one-run performance the game before.

Madden Lutze was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Vita Lagattolla was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Beachside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Beachside's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6. As for Bishop Kenny, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beachside will welcome St. Joseph Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Kenny, they will host Trinity Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
