Baseball Recap: Lakeview Charter Triumphs

Lakeview Charter's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Valley Oaks CES Vanguards, sneaking past 12-10. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Julian De La Pena was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He has become a key player for Lakeview Charter: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Lakeview Charter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Oaks CES, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeview Charter will take on Heritage Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Valley Oaks CES, they will face off against Fulton at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
