Softball Game Preview: Oak Hill Raiders vs. Spruce Mountain Phoenix

The Oak Hill Raiders will face off against the Spruce Mountain Phoenix at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Spruce Mountain is headed out to face a Raiders team ready to give their home crowd a win. Oak Hill lost 16-2 to North Yarmouth Academy last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered since May 13, 2024.

Oak Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Wood, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another was Carlee Austin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Spruce Mountain got the win against Mount Abram on Wednesday by a conclusive 24-2. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Roadrunners recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Rylee Turner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Turner was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mallory Clark, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Samantha Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
