Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yuma). They blew past the Cortez Colts, posting an 86-26 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Criminals with their most commanding win of the season.
Yuma was led to victory by Legend Redmond and Bonnie Amador. Redmond went 13 for 17 en route to 31 points in addition to seven steals and six assists, while Amador went 13 of 29 on her way to 31 points and six steals. Amador continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tyleigh Jim, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Yuma was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Yuma's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cortez, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Yuma will welcome Tempe at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cortez, they will square off against Dysart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dysart will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Cortez surely won't give up without a fight.
