Recap: West Florence Knights vs. Wilson Tigers
The West Florence Knights suffered their biggest defeat since November 27, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Wilson 66-19. While losing is never fun, West Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Wilson is ranked 38th).
Gabrielle Gunter was West Florence's leading scorer, having posted six points. Gunter also led the team in rebounds with seven.
Kara Fluharty took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Wilson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leah Spears out in front who scored 20 points along with six steals. Spears is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Logan Murray, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals.
West Florence are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Wilson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Florence will take on Dreher at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
