Football Recap: Braxten Leonard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gibbon over Superior

Gibbon extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Superior Wildcats, falling 41-20. If the Buffaloes were looking for revenge after losing 23-19 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gibbon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxten Leonard, who threw for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Gibbon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Giovanni Ramirez and Ivan Tamayo.

As for Superior, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season.

Superior's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyler Boyles, who rushed for 242 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, Boyles is now up to 19 rushing touchdowns on the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Sander, who rushed for 167 yards on only 12 carries.

As of now, neither Gibbon nor Superior have any future games scheduled.
