Basketball Game Preview: Hernando Leopards vs. Citrus Hurricanes

The Hernando Leopards will head out on the road to challenge the Citrus Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hernando is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Hernando didn't have too much trouble with Crystal River as they won 67-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Leopards.

Hernando got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Brown out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Brown a new career-high in blocks (four). Daniel Merizalde was another key player, going 7 for 13 en route to 17 points and five assists.

Hernando smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Citrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anclote.

Hernando's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Citrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Hernando beat Citrus 64-56 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hernando since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
