Baseball Game Preview: Marshall Lions vs. Northview Knights

The Marshall Lions will take on the Northview Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Marshall turned things around against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine on Thursday. They blew past Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine 15-7. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 13-0).

Dominic Huisinga made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Huisinga was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Liam Keim was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton McGuire, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Plainfield get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday.

The win got Marshall back to even at 7-7. As for Northview, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Marshall has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
