The Bountiful Redhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Alta Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bountiful is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Bountiful took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 15-4 victory. The Redhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.
Dylan Carpenter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bountiful got a massive performance out of Brenna Wentworth, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Wentworth has posted over her last nine matchups. Another player making a difference was Aspyn Danner, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bountiful kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Olympus hit Alta with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks came up short against the Titans, falling 12-1. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Alta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Brownell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
The win got Bountiful back to even at 7-7. As for Alta, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bountiful hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Alta struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bountiful got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2023 against Alta by a conclusive 19-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
