Basketball Game Preview: Mathews Mustangs vs. Brookfield Warriors

Mathews is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Brookfield is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will host the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mathews lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Liberty, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Mustangs blew past the Leopards 51-28 on Friday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Brookfield and Garfield had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Warriors skirted past the G-Men 64-62. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the G-Men on their court since February 10, 2023.

Brookfield's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Mathews, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Mathews came up short against Brookfield in their previous meeting back in January of 2025, falling 50-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Warriors' Blake Hammond, who went 8-for-17 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and five steals.
