Volleyball Game Preview: Holmes Aces vs. East Carteret Mariners

The Holmes Aces will square off against the East Carteret Mariners at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Holmes and Perquimans, and Perquimans kept the tradition alive. The Aces came up short against the Pirates on Wednesday, falling 3-0.

While Holmes was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Carteret had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Jaguars.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: East Carteret took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-10, 25-14.

Holmes' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 21-3. As for East Carteret, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
