Soccer Recap: Westbrook Takes a Loss

After soaring to four goals the game before, Westbrook was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They lost 4-0 to the South Portland Red Riots. Westbrook fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against South Portland since Thursday.

Westbrook was without their leading scorer, Ithiel Mulumba, in Thursday's match. With Mulumba sidelined, Ahmed Al-Obaidi got his first action of the season.

Westbrook has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for South Portland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Westbrook will face off against rival Noble at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, South Portland is set to challenge their familiar foe Cheverus at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
