Basketball Recap: Stevens Point Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Stevens Point faced off against Mankato East on Thursday. The Stevens Point Panthers were outmatched by the Mankato East Cougars and fell 78-50. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 105th in Wisconsin, while the Cougars are ranked tenth in Minnesota).

Stevens Point has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Mankato East, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stevens Point will take on Appleton East at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mankato East, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Century at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
