Bonneville is 8-2 against Idaho Falls since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bees will head out to face off against the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. Bonneville will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Bonneville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Madison, who was ranked 21st at the time (Bonneville was ranked fifth). The Bees blew past the Bobcats 13-3 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bees, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jackson Ropp tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carter Bowen was a standout: he scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Taye Lords was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Idaho Falls didn't have quite enough to beat Blackfoot on Tuesday and fell 11-9. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost five in a row.
Brauer Herway was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Zaden Hansen also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Bonneville's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Idaho Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Idaho Falls' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bonneville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Idaho Falls, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Bonneville's hitters?
Bonneville took their win against Idaho Falls in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Bees have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
