Football Recap: Cordova Comes Up Short

Cordova fell victim to Houston and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Mustangs, falling 56-0. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

A big part of Houston's win came down to the chemistry between Canon Day and his top target Leif Osborne. Day threw for 111 yards and one touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes while Osborne picked up 56 receiving yards and one TD. What's more, Day racked up 137.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Cordova's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Houston, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cordova will venture away from home to take on Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so the Wolves' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Houston, they will head out on the road to square off against Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
