After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vernon Hills, Highland Park was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Niles West Wolves 52-38. Given the Giants' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Wolves are ranked 524th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland Park has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Niles West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Highland Park will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Warren Township at 10:30 a.m. on January 2, 2026. As for Niles West, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wheeling at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
