Preview: Tabor Academy Seawolves vs. Lawrence Academy Spartans
Tabor Academy is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Lawrence Academy is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tabor Academy Seawolves will take on the Lawrence Academy Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Tabor Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Last Saturday, Tabor Academy got themselves on the board against St. Mark's, but St. Mark's never followed suit. They breezed by the Lions at home to the tune of 53-0. Given Tabor Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while St. Mark's is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hugo junior Djeumeni had a dynamite game for Tabor Academy, rushing for 213 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while also picking up 38 receiving yards. Djeumeni was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Tim Bengtson, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past St. Sebastian's School 31-28.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 5-0 season records intact.
Tabor Academy was dealt a bruising 35-7 loss at the hands of Lawrence Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Tabor Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road?
