Basketball Recap: Branchville's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Branchville hadn't done well against Scott's Branch recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets walked away with a 68-55 victory over the Eagles. While the Yellow Jackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Branchville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javon Williams, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 11 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Williams now owns an excellent 48.9% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Clark, who shot 44% from the field on his way to 21 points and five steals.

Branchville was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Scott's Branch lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kazon Taylor, who posted 13 points. Nyren Bowman was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The win keeps Branchville at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 56.3 points this season. As for Scott's Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Branchville will face off against Blackville-Hilda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Scott's Branch, they will take on East Clarendon at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
